If there was ever a video game adaptation that seemed to scream for an animated version, it’s Minecraft. The signature squared look of Minecraft’s world and its characters is difficult to pull off in live-action, but the upcoming film, A Minecraft Movie, is doing just that. However, a trio of Minecraft fans decided that they could improve upon the recently released trailer by remaking it with animation.

The video above was made by users who go by Alumio, Maraylin, and Comic Cyrus. As Alumio explained on his YouTube page, they didn’t like the trailer for the movie and that’s why they decided to improve upon it. For the most part, they did a very good job with it, and the trailer looks like it was recorded in Minecraft itself. The one area where the recreation comes up short is conveying the emotions of the human characters.
